New Construction Homes

In real estate a typical transaction is finding and purchasing the home of your dreams.  But there is another option, and that is to build new construction in Huntsville, Alabama and design your future residence from the ground up.  There are many great builders and price points to choose from in this area and the key is to choose one that feels right to you and your family and that is within your budget.  This is the exact route that my family and I decided to begin this spring and it has been an amazing ride since May.

One of the biggest thrills of purchasing a new construction is that you get to design your home from the floor plan to the light fixtures.  For my family, the process began by selecting the lot where we wanted to build.   Next we got to select the floor plan we wanted and any special changes that we wanted to make.  In our case, we wanted to expand the master shower to make the master bathroom that much more amazing.  A few weeks after you sign your contract and construction begins the builder will schedule your appointment in the design center.  It is at the design center where you get to make every design decision of the interior and exterior of your new home.  This can be very exciting, but also overwhelming as you quickly realize just how many decisions you need to make.  It is not just whether or not you want hardwood as your flooring, but what type of wood, what color, and do you want 5 inch boards or the standard size.  The design center is not all work though, for instance, we even decided to add a pocket door to our daughter’s side of the house to turn it into her own suite and also let her choose the color of her bedroom, misty aqua was the winner.  Thankfully our designer and Realtor® were there to help guide us through the entire process and aid us in seeing how it would come together in the final product.

After that appointment is complete you get to watch your lot of dirt slowly turn into your castle and that is where the fun begins.   Each week or day that you check on the progress you will find that another aspect of your home has been completed.  And after approximately 5-6 months, depending on the builder, you get to go to closing and take possession of YOUR dream home that YOU designed from the ground up.  If you are interested in building new construction then look no further, Huntsville, Alabama has the builder and price point that is right for you.  And now you have a Realtor® with first hand experience in the process.  Talk to you soon.
